No, because as soon as your landlord returns the guarantee certificate to the current provider, the deposit guarantee is deemed to have been terminated. A letter of termination from the tenant, as is usually the case with insurance policies, is not required for rental deposit insurance.

We recommend that you check the payment of the last premium with your current provider and decide to switch before the end of the insurance year. This will prevent you from paying a premium twice in two places. Every switch is rewarded with a 50% discount.

Changing the deposit provider is sometimes a new experience for landlords and property management companies - thanks in particular to our favorable premium model. To ensure that the landlord is not surprised with a new (further) deposit certificate, the landlord should be informed of the change in advance. A short e-mail is usually sufficient (download templates here: Email or Letter. We can take over the communication with your landlord and arrange everything. You then register with us online, by telephone or by submitting a manual application and activate your new goCaution surety policy by paying the first annual premium.

After receipt and acceptance of your application and payment of the first annual premium, we will send the deposit certificate to your landlord. This will then replace the previous deposit certificate.

Upon receipt of our new deposit certificate, your landlord will return the "old" certificate to the previous provider, thus canceling your policy. This step is important and must be coordinated by/with the landlord so that the change can be made as planned and the tenant is not penalized with possible fees by the current provider.

Every tenant is free to choose the provider that suits them, but the landlord can raise objections. For example, administrative or personal reasons may persuade the landlord to oppose a change.
